This book is the result of the temporary exhibition "All That Glitters Is Not Gold" at Casa del Alabado Pre-Columbian Art Museum. It invites us to explore the long journey of metal transformation in the Ecuadorian Andes based on recent research and interdisciplinary perspectives. From pre-Hispanic social practices and metallurgical technologies to those of the present, the text invites us to enrich our knowledge and imagination about the changes in the symbolic and material value of metals, explore the circulation networks in which they participated, and open up new interpretations of their cultural, political, and economic connections throughout the long history of the Andes.
