Killa is the wise grandmother, who has been through it and understands the alchemy of becoming an adult woman. Between the two a special connection emerges through Tamia’s dreams. A warm and loving companionship develops as the girl learns about the process of menarche, or the first bleed, that every woman experiences. The text narrates the girl’s journey within herself as she discovers the mystery of the feminine.
